Overall: 16 - 24
Projected Finish: 65 - 97
Welp.
Here we are; the quarter pole.
Obviously this start has been a bit of a nightmare.....and not the fun
kind of Tim Burton nightmare
There is no sugar coating it. They Jays have dug themselves a tremendous hole. It is not impossible for them to dig their way out, but it is going to be tough. The recent injuries to the starting staff will only make it tougher.
Winning 6 of 9 is a start and I have hope, but it is no longer confidence, it is only hope.
Confidence left town about 15 losses ago.
So that brings us to our first report
card. Like all 1st term
grades, you cannot fail out at this stage so the lowest possible grade is a
D. And to make it confusing, Yes better players are held to a higher standard and graded harder.
A+
Jansenn - Our star pupil. I can't even try to pretend I predicted this from our man Casey. He has been dominate and the 9th has been locked down as soon as he enters. Now if we could only get him more opportunities.

A
Delabar - "We can rebuild him...we have the technology". Eric Thames for the Six Million Dollar Man? Yes please.
A-
Oliver - Not quite as lights out as last year for Black Magic, but pretty close.
Cecil - Very happy for goggles. Very very happy for him.
B
Happ - Lucky to be alive.
Loup - Solid year for the sophomore.
Davis - Same old Rajai. He can run, he can hit LHP, and he his defence will make you cry.
B-
Arencibia - The HR's are a huge plus. His energy and improved defence is a positive. Everything else is a bit of a drain. JP says he doesn't care about K's.....um thanks JP we kind of had that figured out. You know what else he doesn't care about? Getting on base. An OBP of .246 is not good, not good at all.
Encarnacion - The HR's are still there, but it still doesn't look like the chicken wing is ready to fly like last year. It's unfair, but Edwin I want more. I know you have it in you.Delabar - "We can rebuild him...we have the technology". Eric Thames for the Six Million Dollar Man? Yes please.

Kawasaki - From an article from John Lott at the National Post earlier this year:
During batting practice Wednesday, Kawasaki did several headstands against the screen behind home plate, sat on his knees and bounced to the music from the stadium speakers, broke into raucous laughter in a conversation with Arencibia and exuberantly advised a TV interviewer, in English: “I can’t speak English because I am Japanese!"
That about sums it up!
Lincoln - I don't know what perplexes me more. That Lincoln is all we got for Travis or that Travis still hasn't figured it out.
Bautista - Unfair for a guy with .904 OPS? Yes. Do we need the 2010-2012 Jose? Yes, yes we do.
Cabrera - The Melk Man is heating up. Here's hoping his hammies don't snap. I think a Blue and White Melk Man outfit would look sweet.
C+
Lind - Our only C+ student. That seems about right for some reason.
C
De Rosa - Meh.
Dickey - Hopefully over his neck and back issues which will allow him to get back to his routine and help with the hard knuckler, because we desperately need an Ace.
Morrow - See above.
C-
Izturis - Just not the player I thought he was.
Rasmus - The Dangers are nice, but this is not the hitter I thought he would become.
D+
Lawrie - The D is unreal, but the approach at the plate is becoming worrisome. The late start is no longer an excuse.
Blanco - Is it too early for "FREE THOLE"?
Buerhle - One great performance, hopefully leads to more. We don't need perfection, we just need adequacy. D
Bonifacio - Stop bunting! relax and everything will be fine. Starting to hit after a putrid start.
Johnson - This reminds me of the last Radiohead album. I dreamed about it and when it arrived it was Christmas morning. Then the album sucked.
Rogers - Still better than John fuckin Farrell
Romero - There are not enough words.
Incomplete
Reyes - Desperate for his return. Maybe he will bring his donkey?
Santos – Another surgery? Really? Ok see you in 6 weeks.
Close
the door, put out the light.
You know they won’t be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and don’t you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They’re wearing steel that’s bright and true
They carry news that must get through.
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter.
Walking side by side with death, The devil mocks their every step
The snow drives back the foot that’s slow, The dogs of doom are howling more
They carry news that must get through, To build a dream for me and you
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter. They ask no quarter.
The pain, the pain without quarter.
They ask no quarter.
The dogs of doom are howling more!
Wow those are some depressing lyrics!
